Avid fans of the Kdrama “The Undateables” and MBC series “Come and Hug Me” would have to wait until June 14 (Thursday) to see new episodes. The two shows were preempted to give way to the coverage of a major event.
SBS and MBC recently announced that it will temporarily cancel releasing new episodes for its primetime Kdrama. Initially scheduled on June 13 (Wednesday), “The Undateables” episodes 13-14 and “Come and Hug Me” episodes 15-16 will instead be replaced by the local election broadcast of both networks. Meanwhile, the Korean remake of the US series “Suits” is expected to release latest episodes on June 13.
The upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup games will also lead to several networks choosing to preempt new episode releases. With the first match scheduled on June 14, South Korean networks already announced its planned cancellation schedules for several variety shows and Kdramas.
The June 14 broadcast of the KBS variety show “Happy Together” will be preempted, including the MBC show “It’s Dangerous Beyond the Blankets.” For June 15 (Friday), the release of the new “Where on Earth” episode will also be canceled. For June 16 (Saturday), avid fans will have to wait until next week to watch new episodes of the singing show “Immortal Songs,” as well as the dramas “Secret Mother” and “Goodbye to Goodbye.”
Other shows that were affected by episode release cancellations for the week of June 11 included the variety series “Burning Youth,” the Kdrama “Wok of Love” and “Partners for Justice.” Given the historic North Korea-United States summit, new episodes of the said shows were not aired on June 12 (Tuesday).
At this time, it is still unclear if the schedule of Kdrama episode releases for the week of June 18 will also change. With the games for the 2018 FIFA World Cup progressing until next week, some networks might also decide to preempt a few of their primetime dramas.
